Due to the overwhelming success of their 2010 International Conference on M.E. and Fibromyalgia , The Academy of Nutritional Medicine in association with The Midlands Fibromyalgia Support Group, are delighted to announce their International Conference to be held at the Tullamore Court Hotel, Tullamore, Co Offaly, on Sunday 9th October 2011 from 9am to 5pm.
This Conference is an opportunity for people who are affected by Fibromyalgia and/or Myalgic Encephalomyelitis , as well as Carers and also Health Care Professionals, to gain knowledge of these conditions relating to the most up to date research and also treatment options.
Statement issued 7th October 2011
It is with deep regret that we have no choice but to issue this statement:
Both The Academy of Nutritional Medicine and The Midlands Fibromyalgia Group in Tullamore are deeply saddened that there is a campaign actively encouraging people against attending the conference on Sunday.
The smear campaign is completely unfounded and against everything we believe is right for the sufferers of Fibromyalgia and ME.
The conference as we have always stated, is for both Fibromyalgia and ME sufferers. We realise this is not ‘the norm’, but with research advances we believe this is the way forward. We know it is vital people are given all the necessary information they need to help them cope with these illnesses.
This conference brings together experts in their field from the U.K., Ireland and America.
This is a totally non-profit making conference.
As it states on our conference page, this conference is being held for both sufferers and the health profession.
QUESTION: How can we expect the health profession to help and support us when there is constant resistance to change and new ideas from small sections of the patient community???
We strongly urge anyone that is not attending the conference because they have heard fibromyalgia will not be spoken about, to reconsider.
Please take a look at the programme here:http://www.stonebird.co.uk/ Tullamore%20Programme%20Final.pdf
You will see there is a complete balance of topic.
Everyone has freedom of choice, we just ask that YOU make that choice and do not allow yourself to miss an amazing opportunity because of false hearsay.
The AONM and The Midlands Fibro Group very much look forward to seeing all those attending on Sunday and to continuing to raise much needed awareness of both conditions in Ireland.
